Group D discussion

The mechanics of putting this chat together were more than most as the participant needed to have an AOL chat account. This could be why we only had one participant but Stephanie was our savior. Had we had more, it would have been more interesting.

Mark's Discussion Group

Being the moderator of a chat can be challenging but overall I feel the chat went well. We did manage to stay on the subject at hand and I received some interesting feedback. Most in the discussion seemed to feel the remediation of photography has been a good thing. Wart's can be taken off of a bride's nose and images can be sent more quickly to an editor. It almost seems as if manipulation of an image is becoming an accepted course of action in journalism. Many agreed that the truth has always been manipulated, even in film. My guess is the majority of the participants fell into the under 30 age group. I attempted to stress the re-learning part, someone like myself would have to do, but most of them probably grew up with a keyboard.

Discussion of Group C

Group C's chat was quite a contrast to Group B's in that it was a much slower pace. The questions were thoughtful. The bulk of the discussion seemed to be about if a database could be art. In addition, we talked about the relationship between a database and a narrative.
